Google for Education

How might we reinvent education with Google?

Google for Education provides a platform of “online classrooms” enabling education & training institutions to digitalize the teaching experience for their students. It is distributed by a network of resellers. At the time of the project, these resellers were mostly traditional software license distributors missing out on the business opportunity the platform was offering them, which in turn was slowing the market penetration for Google. It’s in this context that Co-creation Lab came in to facilitate the visualisation of the future of a tech-enabled education, co-developed by Google and its partners.

Co-create a moonshot vision

For this project, we designed and facilitated a custom curriculum enabling Google and its partners to co-create a shared vision, allowing them to connect an ambitious and inspiring long term objective with a tangible business roadmap and to materialize the opportunity of building bespoke applications on top of their traditional license reseller business.

The first part of the program focused on Creative Leadership, to help participants rethink how their organizations could become innovation centers of excellence.

The second part leveraged design thinking to allow participants to reclaim their creative confidence. Through fun and interactive activities, we empowered these business leaders to disrupt and reimagine their own industry, keeping their focus on the user while ensuring financial viability.

Eventually, the teams collectively presented their roadmap towards a brighter and better future for youth of the country,  looking at it through the lens of students, teachers and school deans and leveraging the power of collaboration versus competition.

One of the working groups during a reframing exercise, laying out their vision and next year’s initiatives to the rest of the participants to collect actionable feedback.

for skyrocket results

Through this program the Google team aligned its vision and ambitious targets with their partners’ objectives and perspectives. Over the 3 days of immersion on the Google campus, trust was built between the different attendees. The collaborations initiated during these few days off-site also contributed to turning a competitive market into a collaborative ecosystem, positioning Google as a reliable business partner and thought-leader for its resellers.

2 of the participating companies even ended up merging a few months later and many started developing applications for the market, hence increasing awareness and accelerating the penetration of the platform. We were also very proud to record a NPS of 96% from a demanding audience.
